These terms cover LastWagon's community star ratings and community weigh-station status. They are part of the Terms of Service (§ 10), alongside the Community Parking Terms. How the data is handled is in the Privacy Policy §§ 7A and 7B.
1. The most important thing on this page
A weigh-station status in this app is never permission to do anything.
A community CLOSED is one driver's recent claim. It may have been wrong when it was sent, and it may have become wrong in the minutes since. The lights, the signs, and the law at the roadside apply to you exactly as if this app did not exist:
- If the signage says the station is open, it is open, whatever colour this app shows.
- Bypassing an open weigh station is a violation in every state that operates one, and "an app told me it was closed" is not a defence anywhere.
- An
OPENstatus is not an instruction either. It is one driver saying what they saw.
LastWagon shows you what other drivers said. What you do at a weigh station is between you, the signage, and the law.
2. What the three markers mean
| Meaning | |
|---|---|
| 🟢 OPEN | A driver recently reported the station operating |
| 🔴 CLOSED | A driver recently reported it closed |
| ⚫ NO RECENT REPORT | Nobody has reported recently. |
⚫ is not a report and cannot be submitted as one. It is what LastWagon shows when no report is recent enough to be worth showing you — currently, when the newest report is more than about 90 minutes old, and a status dims as it ages before that. It does not mean open, and it does not mean closed. It means nobody has said.
3. What community information is, honestly
Statuses and star ratings are user-submitted information. LastWagon does not verify them, cannot verify them, and does not stand behind them. Any of it may be:
- incorrect — a driver misjudged, or tapped the wrong button
- outdated — accurate when sent, wrong by the time you arrive
- incomplete — most stations have no recent report at any given hour, and many stops have few or no ratings
- fraudulent — someone deliberately submitted something untrue
A star average is other drivers' opinion of a stop, weighted by however few of them chose to vote. ★ 4.2 (3 ratings) is three people's opinion. It is not an inspection, an endorsement, or a promise of anything about tonight.
4. Your reports
- Report only what you actually observed, at the place you are reporting on.
- Do not submit a report or a rating you know to be false.
- Rate a stop you have actually used. One vote per stop; rating it again replaces your earlier vote rather than adding a second one.
- Do not automate reporting, flood the service, script it, or attempt to manipulate what other drivers see — including a stop's rating.
- Do not attempt to distort the historical record.
- Do not attack, probe, or attempt to exceed the limits of the reporting or status APIs.
Reports are timestamped by LastWagon's server when they arrive. Your phone's clock is not consulted and cannot backdate or forward-date anything.
5. The in-navigation prompt
During guidance, as you approach a weigh station on your route, LastWagon may ask once: *"Weigh station ahead — is it open?"* Two taps are possible, OPEN and CLOSED, and both are optional. The prompt removes itself after a short time or distance, and ignoring or dismissing it records nothing and costs you nothing (Privacy Policy § 7B).
Do not interact with the prompt when doing so would take your attention from driving. The Navigation & Safety Notice applies to it in full. The prompt exists to be answerable in one glance and one tap by a passenger or at a stop — not to be worth a collision.
6. Ownership and licence
The licence in the Terms of Service § 10 applies to ratings and weigh-station reports exactly as it applies to parking reports: you keep ownership of what you submit, and you grant LastWagon the licence described there to host, aggregate, analyse and display it, including retaining the historical record and producing aggregated statistics such as "this station is usually open on weekday mornings".
