These terms cover LastWagon's crowdsourced parking feature. They are part of the Terms of Service (§ 10). How the data is handled is in the Privacy Policy § 7.

1. Two different numbers, and they are not the same thing

This is the single most important thing on this page.

Parking capacity

A recorded space count for a lot, from the compiled directory — how big the place is understood to be. It is a static figure from a source that may be years old. It is not a live count and it says nothing about tonight.

Current community parking status

The coloured indicator. It is one other driver's recent observation, submitted by hand:

⚫ is not a report and cannot be submitted as one. It is what LastWagon shows when no report is recent enough to be worth showing you. It does not mean empty, and it does not mean full. It means nobody has said.

A lot with a capacity of 200 and a 🔴 status is a lot with 200 spaces and no room in them.

2. What community status is, honestly

It is user-submitted information. LastWagon does not verify it, cannot verify it, and does not stand behind it. It may be:

• incorrect — a driver misjudged, or tapped the wrong colour
• outdated — accurate when sent, wrong by the time you arrive
• incomplete — most truck stops have no reports at all on any given night
• fraudulent — someone deliberately reported something untrue

A colour is not a reservation. It is not a promise that a space exists when you arrive, and it never becomes one. Have a second option, and do not spend your last legal hour on a green dot.

Reports are timestamped by LastWagon's server when they arrive, and stop being shown once they are too old to be meaningful.

3. Rules for reporting

Report only what you actually saw, where you actually are.

You must not:

• submit a report you know to be false, for any reason — including to keep a lot clear for yourself, to hurt a business, or to help one
• report on a truck stop you are not at and have not just seen
• use any automated means to report: scripts, bots, macros, emulators, modified clients
• flood the service, or report repeatedly to make one opinion look like several
• coordinate with others to manipulate what a lot shows
• attempt to poison the historical record, distort the aggregate, or influence future predictions built from it
• probe, attack, reverse-engineer or attempt to exceed the limits of the reporting or status APIs, or evade a rate limit or a block

Reports are rate-limited per installation, per truck stop, per IP address and globally, and those limits are enforced by the server. We may block an installation that breaks these rules, disregard reports we believe to be false or automated, or withdraw access to the feature — without notice where the abuse is ongoing.

These rules exist because a false parking report can send a tired driver past the last open lot within their hours. That is the harm, and it lands on another driver.

4. Your reports: ownership and licence

You keep ownership of what you submit. LastWagon does not claim it and does not need to.

You grant LastWagon a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable and transferable licence to:

• receive and store your reports
• display the current status derived from them to other drivers
• aggregate them with other drivers' reports
• retain them as historical record, indefinitely (see § 6)
• analyse them to detect and prevent abuse
• analyse historical patterns — by hour, by day of week, by season
• publish aggregated statistics that do not identify an individual reporter
• derive predictive parking information from them, and offer that as a feature

You confirm you have the right to submit what you submit, and that it is not unlawful and does not infringe anyone's rights.

This licence is limited to operating and improving LastWagon and features derived from community reports. It is perpetual and irrevocable for one specific reason: reports already in the historical record cannot be withdrawn from an aggregate that other drivers are already relying on, and we would rather tell you that up front than imply a deletion right that does not exist. See § 6.

5. What other drivers see

A colour, when it was reported, and how many distinct reporters said it. Nothing that identifies you, your device, your installation, or your location.

Your installation identifier is never given to another client and is never stored with your report. What is stored is a keyed hash scoped to that one truck stop and that one time period, so your reports at different stops — and at the same stop months apart — cannot be joined together. It is still pseudonymous rather than anonymous, and Privacy Policy § 7.2 explains exactly what remains linkable, what does not, and what that trade cost us in abuse detection.

6. Retention, and the deletion problem

The report history is append-only and retained indefinitely. Nothing overwrites or deletes an entry.

Because a report is stored without anything you can present to us as proof it was yours, we cannot find your past reports in order to delete them. That is a direct consequence of not storing who sent them — the same design decision that protects you is the one that makes deletion impossible. We would rather state that than offer a deletion process that could not work.

Since the reporter identifier is scoped per stop and rotates over time (§ 5), this is now true in a stronger sense than before: there is no single identifier that even *represents* you across the history, so there is nothing that could be looked up in the first place.

Uninstalling LastWagon, or clearing its data, permanently severs the link between your device and everything it reported before.

7. Availability

Community parking depends on network access and on LastWagon's server. It can be unavailable. When it is, the map, the directory, search, POI details and routing keep working, and parking indicators simply show as ⚫. Reporting fails visibly rather than silently accepting a report into nothing.
